<abstract>Class A streams are streams that support a population of wild (natural reproduction) trout of sufficient size and abundance to support a long-term and rewarding sport fishery. The Commission does not stock these streams. This GIS layer respresents the sections of streams that are designated as such.</abstract>
<purpose>For mapping and analysis related to designated high quality wild trout streams.</purpose>
<supplinf>This data set was created by loading both River Mile values and latitude/longitude coordinates of section limits existing in the PFBC Fisheries database. The locational values were originally derived from a variety of sources including GPS, scaling from USGS maps and aerial photography. Tools in ArcMap were used to generate the stream sections from these values. Each section was checked against the descriptions contained for each upstream and downstream section limit and the sections were adjusted where necessary. The current 1:24000 National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) flwoing waters layer was used as the base for drawing the sections and this data is coincident with NHD.</supplinf>

The locational values were originally derived from a variety of sources including GPS, scaling from USGS maps and aerial photography. Tools in ArcMap were used to generate the stream sections from these values. Each section was checked against the descriptions contained for each upstream and downstream section limit and the sections were adjusted where necessary. The current 1:24000 National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) flwoing waters layer was used as the base for drawing the sections and this data is coincident with NHD.</suppInfo>
